Language and literature | We took our summative assessment on the unit ‘Media Analysis’. Having wrapped up this unit, we have begun our inquiry process into the next unit: A Doll’s House by Henrik Ibsen. We have presented our group research findings on establishing the social and historical context for the play and have simultaneously been reading the play and doing an in-depth character analysis of the protagonist Nora.
We have also been introduced to the skill of writing a speech using a propaganda poster as a visual prompt. We analysed the poster using the rhetorical triangle and will now be writing a speech using language effectively to convey the tone needed for the chosen poster.

Math | Last week in Mathematics, we were introduced to the unit ‘Networks’. We had a discussion about the types of networks and their relevance in real life. We learnt about degree of vertex, complete graph, simple graph, Eulerian Circuit, Hamiltonian Path, Hamiltonian circuit and Spanning Tree. After discussing these concepts, we learnt how to construct networks. We also attempted the Summative Assessment on the previous unit of Trigonometry wherein real life applications of trigonometry were practiced using the concepts of Sin, Cos and Tan.

Last week in Physics, we learnt about Satellites: we studied about the different types of satellites (i.e. artificial and natural). Subsequently, we also learnt about the Geostationary Orbit, Low Earth Orbit and Medium Earth Orbit, wherein people launch artificial satellites for various purposes. After learning about satellites, we took the Formative Assessment which further enabled the students to develop time management, self-management and thinking skills. Bharat Lakhotia MYP3A Chemistry For the past two weeks in Chemistry, we enriched our learning by furthering our knowledge about Organic Chemistry. We initially started by learning about functional groups. In addition, we also saw examples of functional groups to help us understand them. Next, we learnt about isomers. We mainly did this by figuring out the names of different isomer compounds. Undertaking this activity opened up our minds to the sheer amount of hydrocarbons that exist, and that there is still much more to be discovered. We also appeared for unit end Summative Assessment. Aarush Vajapayajula- MYP 3C Biology This week in Biology we began to understand the mechanism of photosynthesis: the mechanism of both light and dark reactions and the other factors affecting photosynthesis. We also investigated the difference between the absorption and adsorption phenomenon, diffusion as well as osmosis. We also learnt about photo-period, short and long-day plants by brainstorming with the aid of examples.

Hindi Phase 2 In the past two weeks we completed the previous unit, ‘Festivals, Traditions and Culture’, and took the related summative assessment. The criteria we covered in this assessment were A, C and D. We began the unit ‘Our Free Time’ by answering questions and engaging in a detailed discussion. Some questions at a glance: · Should we take leisure breaks in our day to day lives? Justify. · What all activities can we do in our spare time? · Should we reserve this spare time for our extra studies or relaxation?
Hindi Phase 3 In the past week, we focused on the unit ‘Hamare Shehar aur Hamare Gaon’. As a hook, we tapped into previous knowledge related to this topic by holding an engaging class discussion, which helped strengthen our grasp of this concept. We shared our personal experiences about the existing conditions in villages. We also discussed the features of a village and how village life is quite different from that of a city. We compared the advantages and disadvantages of a village in Maharashtra, the ‘Hivre Bazar- Aadarsh Gaun’ which stands today as a fully developed, model village, to that of a village on the border of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, namely Bundelkhand. As a follow up activity, we discussed the hardships and the order of needs of a human and how it helps us define our own priorities.
French We explored the new unit, wherein we learnt about the documents needed to apply for jobs. We also deepened our understanding about the education system of France and how it differs from our country. Then, we proceeded to comprehend the format of a CV along with its essential components to make it complete. We revised future tense as well and created an online CV to apply our learning. We have also appeared for a formative assessment on Criterion B and soon will practice writing a cover letter to apply for internships or part time jobs.
Hetvi Kirat Majmudar MYP 3B Spanish We practiced to create a Curriculum Vitae for job applications and learnt to talk about the specific skills required for different professions. As part of a class activity, we designed a cover letter according to different job openings. |

This week in our DT class, we looked deeper into the creation of fashion, which is not just about drawing a sketch of a piece of clothing but bringing it to life. We began with a discussion on the importance of measurements in order to meet the clients’ needs and truly solve the design problem. We linked it with other product design projects which we have done previously in DT. We learnt how to take measurements, specifically for a garment and practiced the basics of pattern making.

Our theatre classes have lately been about bonding with the new teacher. Right after a casual and fun introduction round, we got down to work. A Doll’s House by Henrik Ibsen, was our first assignment to build upon. We unravelled the plot and discussed ways in which to replicate the storyline or write an entirely new one that is inspired by the book. We bounced ideas of either switching the gender roles or tweaking and toning the story. We are yet to arrive at a consensus before we begin working on a formal script. |
Music
|
We composed a melody using the lyrics we had created in our last assignment and performed the compositions with our group members in the class. Our goal was to create something new and unique. All the songs were quite different and were related to past experiences of our lives. It was an engaging activity as it helped us connect with our own emotions thereby providing an outlet to express them through our music. We used our understanding of the music theory to work on the elements and locate the chord progression for the songs.

Based on our progression in the unit we have written a commentary based on the problems, solutions, methods and materials.
